Is there something "special" about Windows 10? Looking for help that can be understood by an analog era old geezer who works in meatspace with hand tools and hardware. Tick 'Fullscreen mode' and tick 'Filter graphics'. Here are my settings: Options -> Graphics -> Graphics Mode: OpenGL. EDIT 2: I was able to run the game in proper fullscreen mode using ScummVM. I've dug around a bit, and this thread is as close as I've come to finding the answers I'm looking for, but it looks like these issues were solved quite some time ago. EDIT: I have significantly altered my post with new findings and information. And the most recent version of MYST was built in Unreal Engine. The 'realMYST' versions were built using the Unity 3D engine which also is pretty accessible. Similarly, I can't get the Options Menu commands (ALT Z for zip mode, ALT D to drop pages, etc.) to work, either. Myst was made on old-school Macs and also had a Windows version built, so the source code is much more accessible by modern-day standards. These scenes were pre-rendered and feature videos that were. If you know Riven, and Myst for that matter, it is mostly. I have managed to exit the game a couple of times, which just means I have to start from the beginning again. Myst is a point and click adventure, puzzle game featuring many scenes for the player to explore. The file ResidualVM (Myst 3) v.0.3.1 is a modification for Myst III: Exile, a(n) adventure game. They should be in the same folder as the game files in romdir/roms/scummvm/.The problem I'm having is that none of the File Menu commands work ((ALT D to save, ALT F4 to exit, etc.) When I try to save a game using either the commands posted on this forum, or in the original game instructions, I get a black screen with a bunch of code that's telling me I've saved a screen image (there is now a "ScummVM screenshots" folder in my pictures file on my hard drive). I followed the directions re: creating a folder with the required data and video files, and the game runs and navigates just like it was 1993. Here is an example of a bug filed for Riven.Apologies in advance for the Zombie thread- I'm an old fart who doesn't understand 90% of the jargon on this forum, and am just trying to get Myst to work on my Windows 10 laptop. If you encounter new bugs and want to help them get fixed, you can file them in the ScummVM bug tracker. You can find the list of remaining To-dos/Known Issues for Riven support on the ScummVM wiki. However, your save files should be portable between the same version of ScummVM running on different host platforms! To find out the codename of the game, open up scummvm from the Applications menu (F1 on the system list) and load the game, the ID will be provided. This file can contain run commands if desired, or just be completely empty. So if you decide to try upgrading ScummVM later, make a backup of your current ScummVM version and your save files first, just in case. Then, in this game data directory, a blank file named .scummvm needs of the game, like tentacle.scummvm.Also, until it becomes officially supported, there is no guarantee that future versions of ScummVM will be compatible with the current version's save files. I don't think normal Riven saves are compatible with ScummVM. The workaround is to light the first light, then after being teleported, return to the end of the tunnel but stop one frame short of the end, then turn around and complete the puzzle. You are teleported back outside, this is also present when playing the game in ScummVM. Myst Windows Data Files for ScummVM 1993 Cyan Worlds English Includes 'The Making of Myst' This is the original 1993 version (1995 windows 3. Adventure-Spiele Sammlung in deutscher Sprache fr ScummVM. Looking away and then looking back fixes the issue (or just don't skip it in the first place.)Īlso, there is a gameplay bug in the Steam version when in the tunnels to the moiety cave, A collection of adventure games in German language for ScummVM. It only crashed once (as I recall this was an improvement over the last time I tried to play using Windows 7, even with compatibility mode enabled.) Right now the only major issue I noticed was that if you skip a video, the video appears to pause instead of skipping. I also checked it on Windows, but not Linux. Subsequent launchs will directly pass the game section id (myst-win) from the Myst.svm to ScummVM. Behind the scenes the game will be detected, added to scummvm.ini and the matching game section will be put into the Myst.svm file. I played all the way through Riven with ScummVM on my Mac to test it. (Re)start ES to have the Myst.svm file recognized in ES and directly launch it. This is the ScummVM version of the game playable on all modern. Remember, this is still under development so I recommend saving frequently! Check out the manual for quick-save hotkeys. For a comprehensive list of required data files, see the ScummVM wiki entry for the game you are adding. Myst is a Adventure video game published by Broderbund released on 1995 for Microsoft Windows.
